Ministry Report from Burma

As you may recall from last month’s post, Pastors David and Paula had taken a trip to Burma to set up for a faith meeting for the Shan people.  They left for their second trip in late May to go back for the meeting, accompanied by Pastor Jesse Tricola, an anointed pastor from Victory Faith Church.  They held the meeting inside a church in Shan State, discretely holding the sessions during the day so as to not draw attention to themselves at night.  In this area of Burma, the Burmese government has loosened some of their restrictions on churches, but still do not allow new church plants and until recently had not even allowed small gatherings of believers in homes.

Though the meetings were small, the diversity of the attendees was great.  Three of them were leaders in the home churches planted by TCI.  Another couple were believers from a rebel group fight zone, where children are being snatched up daily for rebel armies.  There was also a woman there who was seeking, but has not yet accepted Christ.  Pastors David and Jesse preached on faith, encouraging the Shan believers in their isolated situations.

By far the most interesting attendee was a young man from way back in the jungle.  He heard the Gospel preached on the radio and accepted Christ.  Uneducated and alone, he traveled through Shan State, asking God to help him find a church.  He found one of our home church leaders, and was so hungry to learn from God’s Word at our meeting!  Pictured below, he is standing beside Pastor Jesse, eagerly trying to read his notes.  🙂

Please pray for the light of the Gospel to spread inside this dark nation.  Specifically, pray for freedom for the believers to practice and spread the Gospel.  Pray for those believers in dangerous fight zones to be protected.  Also pray for young people to be attracted to Christianity and to join the church, because right now there is a huge lack of youth in the Shan church!
