Summertime: School Prep, Mangoes, and More

Thailand is in the midst of our hot, dry season, which is particularly dry this year due to the drought.  Shan and Lindsey take the kids to the river every day to bathe and cool off, and the kids really enjoy that!  The farmers are also preparing (in faith!) for the upcoming rainy season in May by preparing the mountain for next year’s rice crop.  In addition to rainy season prep, everyone is busy wrapping mangoes to protect them from bugs and sun as they grow.  We believe that this year’s crop will be a good one!

We had a special visitor this past month who helped us make plans for the farm and gain vision for God’s purposes in farming here on Earth!  His name is Michael Cook; a long-time proponent of Genesis Project and a faithful friend.  We enjoyed his company for this short visit!

Pastors David and Paula are in the States for the next month and a half.  They are busy traveling to churches, sharing, and visiting family (including seeing their son Tai graduate from Bible school)! They’ve experienced all kinds of bizarre weather, including a snowstorm in April, so pray for their safety!  They also really enjoyed attending the AFCM regional meeting, pictured below.

Despite the heat, preparations for the next school year are well underway.  We purchased school supplies, books, uniforms, and insulation and an air-con unit for the school!  (Thank you for your generosity in making that happen!)  The students are eager to begin, and Lindsey is busy preparing curriculum and schedules to include 3 new students, in addition to the 6 from last year.

Pastor Shan has begun teaching a foundational course on Thursday evenings at church called Project 21.  This course provides Christians with foundational knowledge on subjects like God, Holy Spirit, baptism, love, and more!  Our prayer is that the attendees would be filled with faith due to the knowledge of God’s Word.  Right now there are 13 people who attend!

That sums up the happenings at Trumpets of Christ the past month!  Please continue to pray for rain, hearts open to the Gospel, provision for the ministry, and wisdom to lead the ministry.  We feel your prayers daily, as we work to accomplish God’s will here on Earth!
