Their Stories

All of our children have a difficult background, whether they were abused, orphaned, abandoned, or neglected at home.  We have shared two of their stories below.  Remember that these are only a sampling of our children; each one of our children has a story to share.  And despite their troubled past, they are given a new hope when they come to stay at Faith Village.  We hope you enjoy their stories and consider becoming a part of their support family.

Matthew and Surakit’s Story

After both their mother and father were thrown in jail for drug abuse, Matthew and Surakit (Matthew 10, Surakit 4) went to stay with their older sister. Young, pregnant, and also abusing drugs, this sister was not taking care of the boys. They were shoeless, not in school, and growing up in a very stressful environment. Concerned relatives approached us, asking us if we had space for the boys. We eagerly assured them we did, but it was only after visits and much convincing did the boys come willingly. At first, they were very shy; keeping to themselves and only speaking their tribal language.  After a couple weeks, they began to run around with boys their own age and began to speak some Thai.  As soon as they entered school, their language abilities and friendships flourished.  They now wake up each day in the comfort and security of a stable home, with food, caretakers, and friends around them.  Matthew likes to play futsal with his friends in the evenings.  Surakit is the smallest member of Faith Village, and loves chatting up a storm with all his new aunts and uncles!

Kham Kong’s Story

Kham Kong was raised by a single mother in a village nearby. Her mother often invited men into the house, but one time, a new stepfather threatened both physical and sexual abuse. Fearing for Kham Kong’s safety, her mother came to us and asked us to house and protect her. Several times, the stepfather came onto Faith Village property looking for Kham Kong. By the grace of God, he never found her, and eventually left the picture.  Kham Kong so enjoys her new home that she and her mother chose for her to stay with us.  Now, Kham Kong attends school locally and has made many friends.  Like a normal 13-year-old, she loves sleeping and eating- any kind of food!  She and her mother were both baptized, and see each other at our church each Sunday, learning about the extravagant love Jesus has for them!

We hope you are touched by these stories, and choose to support these children and children like them at Faith Village.  Give now to change a child’s life forever!
